Today Michelle and I went to a health and safety expo. It was awesome. First of all it was held in a gorgeous hall where wedding receptions take place. They had so many exhibits to look at and many freebies. We wish we had more time but for various reasons we both were on a time budget. In the picture above we are at the dental booth and I am showing Erika how to brush that big set of teeth. I like that picture because I couldn't look any happier!!
I was trying to show Isabelle all about brushing too. Both girls had their teeth examined, free of charge and Michelle and I received a ton of dental information. The dentist informed us to never let the girls walk around with a sippy cup of juice all day. It is really bad for their teeth. I knew juice was bad and I always water it down but I didn't know that shouldn't be having the cup with them all day.
There is Erika about to get her teeth checked and having a crying fest! The dentist told us that the spaces between the teeth are good right now because it helps with cleaning them and allows room for her adult teeth when the time comes. She said that no way at night should Erika be put to bed right after drinking the bottle. She should have her teeth brushed. ALWAYS. I knew this but was not one hundred percent doing it but I can promise I will do it now. The dentist scared us with pictures of rotted black baby teeth.
This is the position that the dentist recommends that we brush Erika's teeth every night!! I don't think so!! Isabelle was SCREAMING. Michelle and I questioned the dentist about pinning our children down to force them to brush properly and the effect it would have on deterring them. She said it was fine...but we both disagree. the dentist also mentioned taking a wet washcloth and just wiping down the interior of Erika's mouth after having something with sugar. She said her teeth look great so far and that her molars are coming in.
Erika getting fingerprinted...just in case. Hopefully we will NEVER have to use this but I did it as a safety precaution any way. She was great about doing the finger printing! By the way Erika is walking more and more every day. Probably about 7 - 8 steps at a time. It is very sweet to watch because she is so proud of herself and grins the whole time she is taking her little steps.
Erika with Sparky the fire safety dog. He was really cute and there was a woman making him talk to the kids! I think I liked him more than every one.
OKAY AND NOW FOR THE BAD PART OF THE DAY -- BUT I AM ALIVE TO SIT HERE, AND TYPE SO IT ISN'T THAT BAD...
Yup - that's my car. I was driving to a Dr.'s appointment at around 2:15 this afternoon. Michelle was watching Erika for me (THANK GOD). I was driving on a two lane road by my house - a car in the other lane swerved towards me...I swerved to the right to get out of the way and hit a parked pickup truck. My truck spun around and the windshield cracked...but not on me. It was super scary. But all I could think was "THANK GOD I AM ALIVE AND ERIKA WAS NOT IN THE CAR." Police, firetruck, ambulances, Michelle and Peter all came. I am not hurt except for my neck. I went to the hospital and they checked me out. Bruises and a neck muscle problem. They gave me two prescriptions and sent me on my way. I am lucky, very lucky. Next week we find out what will happen with my car. Luckily we have the super duper premium car insurance and also we both have clean licences so our insurance will not go up. My car is possibly totaled. But again...I am alive.

That is so good with the pacifier. Hope the bottle works as well. She seems to not be afraid of animals. That's good. I will tell you this...she is one HAPPY baby.
