Just another GREAT day with my girl!

This morning Erika and I went into Port Jeff on a hunt for Long Island things...particularly a map. Now that I will be teaching about the history of Long Island...I needed a few things to finish off my classroom. So ironically I needed to go to a tourist type of area. I did well and found a really cool cloth map and a few post cards. I just found a map on ebay too with all the earliest settlers. I am so excited!
When we arrived in Port Jeff, Erika was not on the same track as me. As she calls it "shop shop" was not number one priority. She wanted to eat and see the boats. I should have packed a lunch because then she could have had both of those at the same time. I did the next best thing and bought her a snack at a place across from the boats and she was able to watch the Ferry's come and go. It was so steamy hot again today that I knew I wouldn't last too long. While we were sitting there Erika really surprised me. She saw a W.B Mason truck go by. That is the computer paper company. Well she got all excited and yelled "Mommy...Daddy's paperwork!" That is the brand that peter always has and she made the connection. I was impressed.
We walked around by the boats and Erika did her usual routine of telling me there are dinosaurs in various locations. That has been her thing for awhile now. She is constantly telling Peter and I about where the dinosaurs are or sometimes she says "What's that noise Mommy...a dinosaur?" Anyway, i was melting and wanted to get started on my mission so we left the boats which did not make Erika too happy.
But I made it up to her right before we went home with some yummy ice cream. I really had a nice day with her. If it were not for the heat we would have went to a really cool park in Port Jeff but 3 hours was more than enough for me!

The picture below is out of order but such a cute one. When I came down from my shower this morning I found Erika and Daddy reading about Curious George and his fire truck issues. So cute!
