Gift Cards are AWESOME!

Today was officially gift card day! My mother had given me a "Cheesecake factory" gift card for Mother's Day. She told me that I should take Erika to lunch one day over the summer and so that is what we did today. Erika and I had a great time. I sat across from her just totally adoring her and admiring how beautiful she is. I am sure I am bias...but that's allowed - I am her Mommy!
The Cheesecake factory finally has a kid menu. My friend Michelle and I and my Mother and I always wondered why they didn't have a kid menu. So Erika ordered the macaroni and cheese which she did a pretty goo job of consuming and I had the avocado egg rolls. Those egg rolls were so beyond good that I felt like I was in heaven. I am not exaggerating! They were incredible. I had also ordered some buffalo chicken but took that home because I was full from my heavenly treat.
It was so so nice to just sit there with her and give her my full attention. No cleaning, phone, shopping or distractions to take my focus off of her. Her behavior was good once they finally gave me the highchair I requested when we walked in. Whenever we go out I insist on a highchair because I have tried the alternative and it doesn't work out too well. It might be mean but it kinda reminds me of a little puppy full of energy with no leash. She just needs that highchair...
After the date with Erika we went to Macy's to use yet another gift card from my mother. I always allow myself one new handbag for the start of the school year. So Erika and I picked one out and I am very pleased with it. A new handbag is always fun for a girl! Then it was off to Toys R Us in which Erika had a gift card still from her birthday from her Aunt Kristin.
We looked around...and I was thinking to myself...what am I possibly going to find her that she doesn't already have!? But we managed to do the impossible. She (and I) chose a comfy Dora chair. Oh it's just super cute and she loves it!
Erika is always so polite with the cashier saying "thank you...thank you." I think she thinks they are giving whatever she bought to her!
Anyway, gift cards are AWESOME because if you save them for a rainy "what should we do today" type of day, they can really be a treat. Not to mention that towards the end of the summer, my money always gets a little extra tight. Gotta get back to work and get those checks flowing in again.
