So this is it...the day I was waiting for. Two full months for Mommy and Erika! I am looking forward to all my time with Erika, Michelle and Isabelle. The last day at school was uneventful except for the pit in my tummy when all the kids left! I feel okay now but that last day is rough. I know some of my students were feeling it too. Thank you so so so much to Michelle for taking care of Erika during the last four days of work. She did an excellent job and I think Erika mentioned that she wants to move in. In the photo above, Isabelle is "helping" Baby Erika with her pacifier! So so cute. I think that Isabelle looks at Erika as a baby, even though they are the same size!
Speaking of size...today was Erika's one year check up...at almost 13 months. I was very surprised that she only grew 1/4 of an inch since April because she seems so much taller to me - she is 31 inches. And her weight - she gained 2 pounds 4 ounces and is 24 pounds 8 ounces. She was scheduled for three shots but they were out of the chicken pox one (what else is new...they are ALWAYS out of one of her scheduled shots!). She received the Measles, Mumps, Rubella and the Pneumococcal. The MMR one is new for her and she is not reacting well. That is the first time that she has had a reaction to a shot and so I figure it must be a rough one. She is crying, and crying and crying. Slight fever, runny nose, coughing and waking up often. Poor Baby Erika.
Michelle is so sweet because she had a mini party for me for the last day of school. We had some wraps, chips & salsa and then she bought me my own special smiley face cake! YUMMY! We had fun and I know she had fun with Erika. I could feel it in my heart. Mommy's know these kinds of things.
Erika is still doing her "take a step here, take a step there" but not exactly walking. The doctor said soon, very soon.
