And so...we cancelled the Laurie Berkner trip

"Are we going or not??"

As I had mentioned, this weekend was going to be our first road trip with Erika to go see her favorite singer Laurie Berkner. Last night Peter and I sat at the kitchen table and talked about how pressured with both felt with so much to do. Then we thought about the 10 hour trip ahead of us and the $$$ involved and finally came to the conclusion that it wasn't practical to go. When we bought the tickets for the show we were thinking with our hearts and not logic. A little late, but last night we started thinking logically! Anyway, we both felt really relieved when we cancelled the hotel reservations. Of course we are disappointed about not seeing Laurie Berkner but we have August to look forward to when she will be right here where we live and we have tickets for that too.
So today Erika and I spent some time playing. And Erika and Daddy played. Then I dragged her out to the stores to do some birthday exchanges. I had a toy lawn mower to exchange, some clothing to exchange for larger sizes, and then I bought her a pair of the classic baby white walking shoes. She tried them out tonight and they are great because they support her ankles. I should have bought those awhile ago!
While we were out Erika made it to about 4 stores and then really started to complain. I knew my time was limited and began heading home. She is so friendly when we are out, waving to EVERYONE! The bad part about bringing her shopping is that I can't even think straight because every time I stop she complains, so I have to grab things pretty quick with barely even looking at them.
On the way home she was making some sounds and then all of a sudden it became real quiet. I turned around and she was knocked out! So much in and out of the car seat must have wore her down.

After a nice nap, Erika went in her little pool from Damiane. She doesn't like going right in but would rather getting in gradual. I had to bring some warm water from inside out to the pool to warm the water for her. If I had set the pool up earlier in the day the water would have been fine. Once she was in, she had a nice time.
Okay, I admit it, I am jealous that she was in the water and I was not. I need to get one of those bigger plastic pools that I can go in too! I kept putting my hand in, but that is not enough on a steamy day like today! Erika was sporting another bathing suit from her Grandma.
Erika missed Isabelle while she was in the pool because she didn't have her friend to play with. She had me, but I was a bad mommy and talked on the phone a lot of the time! I let her stay in the pool till she indicated that she wanted to come out.
Then Erika spent some time swinging and drying off. We had a nice day. I am looking forward to Monday with her since I had taken off for the trip. YEAH more time with Erika!

Yeah, she likes her pool. I would have sent a bigger one if I could! LOL. Too bad you weren't here, we would all just jump into my mom's pool with the babies in the swimming rings. I am so happy to hear you have an extra day with her because I know how much you love spending time with her. It will turn out to be a great weekend after all. Travel or not.
