A Sunny Saturday

I have always loved the weekend but now having Erika, I just love the weekends even more. Erika is such an unbelievable treat. She got up at 7:00 this morning which is much later than during the week when she gets pulled out of her warm and comfy crib at 5:30 in the morning! Daddy had to work today so we played and cleaned the house...A LOT!! In the picture above, Erika and I are cleaning all the blankets on the bed. Since Bahob (the cat) likes to sleep with us, we were starting to feel like the bed was more his than ours. To fix the problem...clean all the blankets. Erika is so good though and watches everything I do. I can tell that she is definitely going to be Mommy's little helper when she gets a little older. Today she wore her big girl sneakers that light up when she stomps her foot. they are really cute and at least they stay on her feet. I had given up on buying her shoes but gave in and tried again. These are working out well. They might even be the right size! I have been known to put sneakers on her that are way too big.

Even though I should have taken my shower when Erika took her morning nap, I didn't. Instead I cleaned and cleaned. So after she got up and had lunch, I placed her in her crib (safe) with the book that she has in her mouth in the picture above. This book (which is from my mother) has been Erika's favorite since she got it which I think was about 7 months ago! She will sit (and eat and look at) with this book for such a long time. She is so into it it. I have no idea why this is the lucky book but it is. So I took my shower and then looked in on her...still with that book. It is really silly.
Erika has other books that are the same size and same plastic but it has to be this duck one or she is not as interested in it. You know how some kids latch onto a blanket or a stuffed animal...Erika chose this book. Hmmm...maybe that's because her mother is a reading teacher!
"Now this is a great book!" "I just love it!"

After the shower and getting ready Erika and I went out to stock up at Price Club. She was so well behaved and such a pleasure. We must have been there over an hour and not even a peep out of her. Erika is so friendly and waves and smiles at almost everyone we see. If the person doesn't look at her she will make a small grunting noise to see if she can catch their attention. I really couldn't believe how well she behaved. That store is usually not one of her favorites!
This is Erika all set and ready to head out to the store. "Are you ready yet Mommy?"
And here is Erika thinking she is hot stuff sitting up in the front seat! Ha...I bet that time will be here before I know it! I can't even imagine.
Of course I just happened to have my camera with me while we were out shopping and so here is the "after" picture. Empty wallet...full cart. We bought many yummy treats for the fridge!
Tonight I feel as though I got cheated of Erika time. Since I kept her up from 11:30 till bedtime...she wanted to got to bed real early. She wanted to go at 6:00 but I stretched her till 7:00 so that she could have dinner with us. I just feel like I didn't get enough of her. I am Erika deprived!! In the picture below, Erika is reading Daddy a bed time story! That's my smart baby!

Okay....I'll try again. I look so forward to receiving your pics and blog of Erika. The Easter hat is precious and so is she. It's so nice to see how she is growing and advancing. She is growing up so quickly. I bet she'll walk before she crawls. Love, Aunt Peggie
