My Lovely Day With Erika

Today started out with testing the new tub toy that Grandma and I picked out on Saturday. It is a really cool toy because it floats in the water and has washable crayons that get stored on each side of the tray. Erika can color while in the tub! It took a little while for her to understand the whole situation, but once she did, she liked it!
Of course one of her favorite parts is the clean up. This kid is becoming just like Mommy with the cleaning! She is always cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. Sometimes a little too much! My only complaint with this toy is that she needs help getting the side crayons open where the washable crayons are stored. It even has suction cups on the back so that it can go on the side of the tub or the wall. Very cute!
Then Erika put on her new skirt from Grandma...and took a nap! Erika is basically on a 12:30 nap schedule - give or take a half hour. That is a schedule that Maureen created and it seems to work well. Most days she will sleep for about 2 hours - again give or take a half hour. Before her nap I had so much fun with her dancing to the Laurie Berkner CD. She actually asks to be held so that she can be danced with. At night Daddy and Erika have been watching the inauguration concerts and they have been dancing like crazy. She gets so excited for him to hold her and dance with her.
The picture above I posted just to show how long and thick Erika's hair is. She has such beautiful hair. I hope so much that it keeps its slight curl from Daddy at the ends. She has the exact same hair color as my mother and I - which is super cool! Really today I just gave Erika my day. I put most chores aside and just played with her. This is such a great age for fun. I have enjoyed every age of Erika's but this age is definitely a favorite. Every day Peter and I see more and more personality coming out of her. Erika is very very loving, outgoing, attracted to music/dancing, and active. She is so loving that she blows kisses to people when we are out and sometimes even says "love you!" I am very very proud of her. This is Erika's "after nap" face. OR "I just woke up" face! Either way, after she woke up from her nap, we played a little beauty parlor (one of my favorites with my Grandmother). At this point, this activity is more fun for me than Erika. She likes doing my hair but does not like me doing hers! I think she looks so cute with her hair pulled away from her face. However she does not like to keep the rubber band in for anything!
Have I ever mentioned that Erika is everything that I have ever wanted? I just totally adore her. We had some fun cuddling and silly time and then we were off for our first Mommy - Daughter lunch date. Only to McDonald's but still tons of fun!
I kept asking Erika if she wanted to go eat and she would say "yeah." But the next thing I know, she was over by her kitchen, fixing us something to eat. She is such a little girl but whats great is at the same time she is also sporty.Working hard in the kitchen...just like Mommy. More on our day together, to come!
