My Girl - I am So In Love

My little girl has been battling a cold yet AGAIN! She never recovered from her last cold and yet here she is with another one. At first we thought maybe it was just a reaction from the shots that she got on Tuesday but now we see that it is more than just a reaction. I think the worst part is the cough. Watching her little body struggle so much when she coughs nonstop is so heartbreaking for Peter and I. After work yesterday I took her to the doctor but he just said how she is building up her immune system and this is all normal. YUCK!
At this point I think she is actually getting better again. I am getting better as well but not as quickly as I would like to. My ear still bothers me and I am very tired all the time. I do feel a lot better than I was feeling though. The nights over here have been extra long because Peter has been working really long hours and so Erika and I have been spending a ton of one on one time together. It's nice to have that time with her but it is challenging as well because I come out straight from work and then go right into "Mommy Mode" without a break or breather. But I wouldn't trade it for anything so this is not a complaint. I LOVE my girl more than anything!I think it is almost safe to say that we have Erika off the bottle. It happened very gradual and she does still ask for it every so often but Peter and I stay strong and try to distract her when she asks for it. The downside to that is she is not getting any milk in right now other than yogurt and cheese. The doctor said that eventually she will adjust to drinking milk from a cup, so I am not really concerned. Potty training has been kinda going on. Every night before she takes her bath she always sits on the potty. Sometimes we have success and sometimes we don't! Maureen had started with her too and we even bought pull ups. But I need to buy another small potty for Erika at Maureen's because apparently she screamed like crazy when Maureen tried to get her on the small seat on the big bowl! I will get her the same Elmo one that she has already.
It's so unpredictable still if Erika will sleep the night. Every night we go to bed hoping she will sleep the night and sometimes it actually happens! Peter does this new "no nonsense" approach with her when she wakes up at night and it works really well. That must be difficult for him because he is "the nice parent" in Erika's eyes for sure! I think Erika sleeps better when her room is more on the cool side as opposed to warm. Makes sense because then she is less stuffy. One of Erika favorite songs right now is "The Wheels On The Bus." I just have to get on video how excited she gets when I sing that song with her, Oh my goodness....so funny and cute. She is very into school buses when she sees them pass by. And she loves her toy school bus from her grandma (my mother).

So glad it is the weekend coming up...better yet a 3 day weekend!!
