Tuesday was Erika's 18 month check up even though she is really 19 months. I had called in sick on Tuesday because I am so sick. She spent the day at Maureen's, while I slept the day away and then Peter brought her home and we all went to the Dr. It was so much easier having Peter there to help out. Erika totally hates the doctors office and gets herself so worked up.
Other than the concerns of her constant constipation issues - all is well. She didn't gain much weight since last time but that is typical for this age. Erika weighs 25.5 pounds and gained an inch in height which makes her 34 1/4 inches long. I was so sick that I forgot to ask about the percentiles...but that's okay. After reviewing all the steps we have taken to help Erika with the constipation problems, the doctor decided it would be best if Erika is seen by a pediatric gastro. He referred us to one and we will be making that appointment shortly. I look forward to this constant issue being resolved for poor Erika.
Erika is always sick when we bring her for her check ups and so she has fallen behind in her shot schedule. She was due to have five...that's right FIVE on Tuesday but the doctor settled on giving her three. Chicken pox, flu and haemophilus influenzae tybe b. She did well getting the shots and didn't scream too bad. Now we have to wait and see how the reactions to all of those will be. Next two shots are scheduled for a month from now. I do have a cute Erika story to share. I was upstairs holding Erika in our bedroom. I said to Erika "should we go downstairs and make Daddy some breakfast?" She said "okay." So we went down. I put her in the living room while I started to cook in the kitchen. She went over to her kitchen filled her plastic bowl with all the fruit that came with the kitchen and then went running over to the stairs and yelled up to peter "Daaaddeeee....breakfast." and she was holding the bowl of fruit for him. SO ADORABLE!
Another thing that she does that is really sweet is whenever I give her some type of snack she always says "mommy" because she wants me to have some and then she says "Daddy" because she wants peter to have some. I just love that she is so caring and loving. It's an incredible trait to have particularly at her age.
