Saturday Fun With My Baby Girl...

This morning Erika was up by 6:45 and her and Daddy were just full of energy! I am one of those "Don't talk to me till I have had my coffee" people. So as I prepared the coffee and the usual Saturday morning pancakes, the two of them went outside to do some gardening (at 7:00am!). They even went to the store to buy some seeds to plant. It was a good thing they had some energy because I was slow moving! After breakfast and a bath, Daddy had Erika all worn out and ready for some night night. Erika napped from 10:30 - 12:30 and I ran errands while Daddy did more gardening. When I came home from the errands, I made a typical Memorial Day weekend lunch - hot dogs. Erika didn't even know what they were because I have never given them to her before. Well actually I have but she was so young she doesn't remember. Good thing I bought "healthy hot dogs" because Erika loved them. She ate 1 and 1/2 of those, half a role and a strawberry shortcake ice cream!
After lunch, Erika and I went to our favorite park. I expected it to be crowded but it was almost empty! In fact, at one point we had the toddler section all to ourselves, which has never happened at this park! Erika was very VERY impressive today with her playground skills. She was climbing like a pro. Last time I took her there she could not climb over the fish or up the green climbing wall and today she did both! I was excited for her.

Erika and I walked around the track that surrounds the whole park and we admired all the other kids bikes. That is what Erika is hoping the birthday angel will bring her on June 3rd. She likes climbing to the top of the hills that are at that park and then she attempts to roll down the hill too.I found myself looking at some of the smaller children at the park today and saying to myself "was Erika really ever that small?" She always seems like she has been whatever size she is forever! And then I look back at the pictures and say "oh my!" I am excited that her 2nd birthday is coming. I even took the day off from work to spend with her.Erika would climb to the top of the hill and then say "sit down Mommy, sit down." But then she would want me to roll down and that is where I drew the line! One time she was really excited because the soccer players let Erika get their ball for them and give it back. they were very patient waiting for her to get the ball and throw it back in the game.

She was a little disappointed that we were not flying kites today but really that is a Daddy activity. I have no clue how to get those kites up in the sky! Lately it has been warm enough that I have not been putting a onesie on underneath her clothing. Well, this must be something really new to her because she has been lifting up her shirt and rubbing her belly on everything! It started last night when I saw her doing that to Bob (the cat), then the couch, then Daddy and the rug. I am so used to holding her arms to help her climb up that it felt strange just standing there watching her. Of course every time she would make it to the top she would say "I did it...I did it!" I felt so proud of her. After some playing and walking Erika and I took a break.

AN ICE CREAM BREAK!!!! But really that is a whole post in itself. So I will have to continue tomorrow on that one!

ADORABLE pictures! What a great holiday weekend! I'm surprised when she at the hotdogs she didn't ask where Belle was.... that was their favorite lunch on Wednesdays along with chick peas when we were watching her. Her hair looks precious - what a little angel! Can't believe she will be 2 soon!
