What a great surprise to come home to today! Waiting on our front doorstep was a big box for Erika from my friend Kim. It always amazes me how things come at just the right time. Erika has been sick since last Sunday and really needed a distraction and a pick me up! Erika was feeling fine Saturday and then Sunday morning she woke up coughing like crazy. All week she has had a cold and that yucky cough. Peter stayed home on Monday to take care of her but the other days she had to go to Lori's.
Anyway, we got the box open and Erika dug right in! She was very excited. Oh and every time she opened something she would show it to me and say "look Mommy, look what Kim gave me!" Of course Bob was hanging around too wanting to get in on the action.
Erika opened about 5 new books all of different topics which I am looking forward to reading with Erika. One of them is the type where you have to find various things in the picture. That should be fun. Another one is about the doctor, which is cute. Then there is a color one, Peter Pan and Sleeping Beauty. I think there is a Winnie The Pooh one too! Erika loves books so that was a great surprise for her...and me!
She was so involved in opening the gifts that I had a tough time getting her to look up for a picture. I would have to say to her "show me what you have." And then eventually she would look up quick and then go right back to opening. So much fun and so beyond sweet of Kim!
It is so difficult with her being sick again. When she coughs it makes me feel sad and then I always worry about her too. Luckily she has been able to sleep most nights although she did get up two times this week which is tough on me for getting up at 5:00 in the morning. I have been doing all the treatments that I usually do that usually gets her better but it just isn't working as well as it usually does.
The picture above is the book I mentioned about how you have to find the little pictures that they tell you to. That will be a fun one with her.

Awww...Kim gave Erika a
doggie pocketbook! She loves it and I am sure it will be used. When she opened that one she said to me "oh look it's a puppy." And then when I showed her that it is a pocketbook too, she was even more excited.
Cool! Erika got a bowling set! The ball even makes noise. It "
Moo's" because the bowling pins are bottles of milk. We already set that one up and played with it. I have considered many times getting her a bowling set but never did it and now she has one. It's great! First time I tried I even got a strike!
