As much as I love my students and teaching, I love being with Erika even more. It has been a difficult week of leaving Erika. Today was the worst yet. Erika was very sad when I left her at Maureen's. As I walked into work the tears were pooling in my eyes and I sucked them in. I felt so hurt that i had to walk out on her crying. Maureen really tries too. She had a sticker book craft all ready for Erika to do and she works so hard at distracting her but it doesn't work. I know it is the age but it is still very difficult to handle.
When I went to pick her up she was very excited to see me which was nice. On the way home she was so chatty as if she was telling me what she did during the day. I tried to respond so she thinks I know what she is saying.
Before Erika goes to bed, I always brush her teeth. She plays with the light switches while I brush. it works a s a nice distraction. I am impressed with how well she lets me brush her teeth. Erika has been saying "Please" and "Thank You" lately which of course I find very cute.
I am thrilled to have her this weekend!
