Before I tell my foot story - Friday night we all went to Michelle's for pizza. First Michelle and I met up at ww and stayed for the meeting. I was up 2.4 pounds but that was so much less than I expected so really I am okay with that. I will get back on track this week. I wish I had my camera Friday night because the girls were being so cute with each other chasing and giggling. I have it in my head but that is difficult to share with every one else! Erika cried every day that I left her this week at Maureen's which makes it very difficult for me to go to work. Maureen told me that she stops as soon as I leave but it still makes me feel bad when she does it. It has been a week of adjusting for sure. I hope things fall into routine more this week.
Today I went to the foot doctor. I had a double bunionectomy 3 years ago. Within the past two years I have been having a lot of trouble with my right big toe. It swells up and hurts really bad almost everyday. The only way I get some relief is wearing sneakers with my orthodics. When I was pregnant I thought it was something to do with that. But the problem has continued and become much worse. I dealt with it the entire summer but finally the pain was so uncomfortable that I knew I had to see the foot doctor.
The results were not nice. I have SEVERE arthritis in my big toe and the joint is close to be completely destroyed. It is border line if the joint can even be saved at this point. The doctor was pretty serious about the whole situation and I wasn't thrilled to say the least. Bottom line what this means for my VERY near future is another hospital surgery, another screw (#3) installed and recovery. Should have listened to Peter when he told me to go during the summer! Anyway, the surgery can't be put off due to the extreme damage to the joint. The doctor will go in my foot, reposition the bone and clean up what is left of the joint. Put another screw to keep it where it should be.
And well...that is my story. Monday I get my surgery appointment.
