Grandparents Day!

Today, amongst many other things Erika and I went to the store to buy some flowers for Oma and Opa to bring to the cemetery. We picked these beautiful kiwi colored roses. Erika loved holding them and really it didn't matter too much what kind of damage she did. I always miss Opa especially on this day. To me Grandparents day is for him. And when Oma was alive I loved acknowledging both of them and they always ate it right up. My grandparents played such a tremendous role in my life. Many of my best memories are times spent with them and I will ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS hold them close to my heart.

Erika was very brave attempting to lug those flowers all the way to the stone. They were heavy and she kept falling. But for awhile she insisted so I let her do it. I even took a video which I will share at the end.

We finally made it (after many falls) and laid the flowers down so we could put them in the vase. Erika seemed very into the whole process. It's not the first time I have taken her so i don't know if there is a possibility she kinda knows the routine.

We set them up and made them look extra pretty because Oma and Opa are EXTRA SPECIAL. I felt at peace being there feeling them looking down on my beautiful daughter and I. I felt proud for all I have accomplished and I knew they were feeling proud too. I could feel them, really feel them.
Erika took time to smell the roses! She also ran around allot while I sit and watched her. She visited many stones! Touching them all! I just sat cross legged and talked to Oma and Opa and Erika too. It was a very nice but sad of course time.

Eventually we said our goodbyes and just in time too. With in seconds the HUGE sprinklers came on and we would have been drenched!

Today was Erika's second Sunday of Sunday school. We have been testing out our very local congregational church. The church we belong to is just too far and we never end up going. So she goes into the classroom and sings, draws and plays. She is doing great! Check out the picture she made today even though they spelled her name wrong.

And I convinced our neighbor Aunt Judy to come with us too. So here is a pic of them in the backseat. Look, they have the same expression on their mouth as each other!
Oh no the video is too big to share. It is an adorable video and I will try to load it in you tube to share here.
