Putting Up The Lights With Daddy

Erika must have been super excited about putting up the Christmas lights with Daddy today because she was up at 1:00 am and then again at 5:30! So yes that means I have been up since then too. I really wanted Peter to catch up on a little sleep because he has be working so hard. While Erika took her morning nap, I went to Kohl's to exchange the green dress from Grandma for a smaller size. I can't wait to put it on her tomorrow for Sunday school.

So when I came back, Daddy and Erika were all hyped up about going outside and so we did. Funny thing is that Peter realized how short the attention span is of a 18 month old...not very long. Erika and I ran out to get Daddy more hooks and bulbs for the lights. Also I bought a glazed ham for dinner. Erika practically inhaled the ham at Thanksgiving so I thought I would bake one today.

By the time Erika and I returned back home...Daddy had all the lights put up! But he still needed the bulbs and hooks. I put the ham in the oven right away and Erika went down for a nap. While she slept I was actually able to have a dinner with minimal distraction. Unfortunately, Peter and I didn't get to eat together though because he was helping Aunt Judy with her light display. She insisted this year on having lights for Erika which I think is super sweet. It touches my heart deeply that Erika has so many people in her life that want her to be happy. It's an incredibly warming feeling that others care about her so much. May sound silly but it really is a nice feeling for me to experience. When Erika awoke from her nap she was in such a silly mood and then shared in Thanksgiving part two with the ham, stuffing, cranberry sauce and all. Peter and I were laughing at how silly she was being. While she was sleeping Peter had helped Judy with her lights and then when she woke up...the first thing Daddy did was show her!The lights really excite her and I think it is going to be a great holiday season with Erika!
