Columbus Day = Mommy & Erika Day

These three day weekends that I get as a teacher are so AWESOME. I had a great day with Erika and just really LOVE LOVE LOVE having the extra time with her. I had the whole summer with her in yet this one extra day on with the weekend suddenly means so much to me. We started the day around 7:30 which isn't too bad. We had to keep to a schedule because Erika had a dr. appointment for her lip. There she is all comfy in Mommy's spot in the bed, while I got ready for the day. She does that all to herself and if you notice, she even has a baby in her hand too. She is a little Mommy in the making!
I know I always say it but I truly don't put her in these poses...she does it herself. Many times she actually tells me to take a picture of her. And then she creates the pose. I am almost positive at this point that I could have her doing some type of photography/modeling just with her desire to pose alone. But then who knows how she would act for someone else.
Erika is still complaining that her lip hurts after her injury a month ago. Although it has healed there is a small scar (that may or may not stay) Peter and I thought it would be best to bring her in to have it looked at. The doctor said that it takes from 6 months to a year for something like that to heal. She felt the lip and said the tissue in there is bumpy and that may be causing some pain. As it heals it will smooth out. She also mentioned the possibility of Erika cutting some small nerves which will also heal in time. Basically all should turn out well in 6 months to a year! Yikes that is a long time. I am glad that I took her and now I know.
The doctors visit ate up a lot of our time today. First we were in the waiting room for awhile which is where some of these pictures are from and then in the actual exam room...over an hour waiting! And they were pumping the heat in. I was starting to lose my patience but not Erika. She was unbelievable. So so good. Not only good but she was all cuddly with me and I was loving it! I thought she was going to fall asleep in my arms.
She has become so mature and really handles herself great. When we are out like at the food store and she gets in someones way she say "Oh sorry, excuse me." Could I ask for better manners? I do take credit for teaching her that but it still amazes me that she actually does it.
After the doctor we went to Target for a few things. Lets see Erika got a pair of tan sweatpants, some undershirts since it is getting chilly and a new toy for being such a well behaved young lady at the doctor. She was even a great sport about letting the doctor examine her lip.
Before we went into Target Erika talked on the phone with Daddy, filling him in on everything. She is such a girl!
And then later in the day talking to Daddy again!
Erika chose a little people ice cream truck as her reward. It is so cute and even plays the music!
I had such a nice day just being with her. I love this kid more than I thought anyone could possibly love!
