The Hospital and Coming Home.

At the hospital I remember the sound of the cart coming down the hallway that Erika was in. It seems like a sound that will not be forgotten. I'd be in bed and then in would come a nurse with my baby girl. They would place her in my arms and I would feed her. The thought that this baby girl belonged to me was beyond amazing. I would just stare at her and then stare some more!

Erika loved to eat from the start. The hospital gave me a bottle that was filled with 4 ounces and told me to feed her. That's it, no further directions. New Mommy that I was and hungry baby that Erika was...she slurped down the whole 4 ounces in just a few minutes! Then when she spit most of it up a bit later and it was running out her nose...the nurses asked me how much did I feed her. After I told them the amount, then they told me she should only get a half an ounce to an ounce! Ooops! I had no idea just thought I'd let her eat what she wants. You know what they say - live and learn!

Of course Peter and I were very excited the day that we brought Baby Erika home. Dressing her up in her little outfit, putting her in her car seat for the first time, driving with our baby in the car, showing her the nursery and just sitting on the couch holding her are a few of my memories of that day.

AND THEN REALITY KICKED IN - SLEEPLESS NIGHTS...next post!

Below are a few pictures from our first day home.

Erika just 4 days old. She is making her mouth shaped like a heart because she is full of so much love and because she is loved so much.

Daddy and daughter first day home from the hospital.

Mommy and baby...so so so very happy.
